Support for families and loved ones

The use of drugs and alcohol can have a devastating effect on families. When a family member, friend or loved one shows signs of misusing alcohol or other drugs, it’s hard to know what to do or say. New Vision Bradford is committed to supporting families to reduce these harms.

We provide support for families, loved ones, and concerned others who are worried about someone’s drinking and/or drug use.

Our team provides:

  • Advice and information on the effects of drink and drugs
  • Information on how to speak to the person’s family about our services
  • One-to-one support
  • Access to peer groups where affected families, loved ones and concerned others come together to share their experiences and support each other at a difficult time.

We also have specialist family support workers, co-located in four multi-agency Start For Life hubs across the district, who work closely with families affected by drug and alcohol use. They assess the needs of the whole family, working with them to co-produce a support plan to help the family make and sustain positive change.
